Sharp reaction from Istanbul Bar Association President: 'What is the panel negotiating?'

Istanbul Bar Association President Filiz Saraç shared a post on her social media account regarding TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay, whose detention continues despite the Constitutional Court ruling that his 'right to vote and be elected' and 'right to personal security and liberty' had been violated.

In her post, Saraç stated the following:

“The Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court must implement the Constitutional Court ruling immediately! With its decision published in the Official Gazette on 27.10.2023, the Constitutional Court (AYM) ruled that the rights of Hatay MP and member of our Bar, Attorney Şerafettin Can Atalay, to be elected and engage in political activity, as well as his rights to personal liberty and security, have been violated. According to Article 153 of the Constitution, ‘Constitutional Court decisions are published immediately in the Official Gazette and bind the legislative, executive, and judicial organs, administrative authorities, and real and legal persons.’ Despite the AYM’s ruling of violation, what is the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court panel still negotiating!”
