In Ankara, Şerife Yılmaz, who defrauded many people by introducing herself as a member of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), a diplomat, a public administrator, and a representative of NATO and the United Nations, was arrested after being taken into custody.
According to information obtained, an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office revealed that Şerife Yılmaz presented herself as an authorized person, particularly through the use of AI-supported fake documents. The suspect's victims include politicians, academics, economists, and public officials.
Among the fraud methods used by the suspect was introducing herself as a US citizen to those from whom she received money, telling them that "the transfer from overseas accounts would be delayed" to buy time. It was also alleged that as the victims' demands for payment increased, she prepared fake receipts and threatened to have them detained by using her identity as a high-level public official.
In the operations carried out by the Ankara Police Department, it was determined that Şerife Yılmaz targeted not only individual citizens but also tradespeople, prospective pilgrims, and earthquake survivors. It was further claimed that she threatened to have public officials who rejected her romantic advances reassigned to different posts by using her high-level connections.
It was noted that the suspect, who produced documents and images using artificial intelligence, aimed to create the impression of having an extensive network, thereby facilitating her fraudulent activities.
Taken into custody, Şerife Yılmaz was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
