Sorbonne University, which evaluated the application regarding the doctoral degree of Prof. Dr. Naciye Aylin Ataay Saybaşılı—one of the 28 individuals whose diplomas were revoked by Istanbul University's Faculty of Business Administration on the grounds of an "obvious error"—has rejected the request, stating that there were no violations in the process.
With a decision taken by the Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration on March 18, 2025, the diplomas of 28 graduates, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Galatasaray University faculty member Prof. Dr. Naciye Aylin Ataay Saybaşılı, were revoked on the grounds of an "obvious error." Following the decision, Saybaşılı retired from her position before the start of the fall semester.

While Istanbul University also revoked Ekrem İmamoğlu's master's degree certificate following the invalidation of his undergraduate diploma, an application regarding the doctoral degree Prof. Dr. Saybaşılı received from Sorbonne University in France also came to the agenda.
