Fatma Kovan, who claims she left her life behind and moved to Mardin for A.K., whom she met online while living in the Bodrum district of Muğla, fled the area after a while, taking her 1-year-old daughter with her when she learned there were plans to arrange a betrothal for the child. She left her life in Bodrum and moved to a village in Mardin: She lost 55 million liras to her lover

According to the allegations, Fatma Kovan (34), who lived in the Bodrum district of Muğla, met A.K. (45) on the internet in 2019. After seeing each other for a while, the couple decided to have a religious marriage. Kovan then moved to the Kayacık village of Derik, Mardin, where A.K. lived.

During this period, Kovan allegedly closed her restaurant due to her lover's belief that women should not work. During this time, Kovan also lost her apartment, which she had given to A.K. after he claimed he could not take out a loan. While living in Mardin, the couple had a daughter. Kovan allegedly went into a frenzy when she learned one day that there were plans to arrange a betrothal for her daughter.

The young woman, who confronted A.K. about this, was shocked by the response she received. A.K. pressured Kovan to "keep her mouth shut." Following this, Fatma Kovan took her daughter and fled the area. It is alleged that A.K. had previously transferred a villa belonging to Kovan, for which he had obtained power of attorney, into his uncle's name. Unable to recover her assets, Kovan obtained a restraining order against A.K. and initiated a legal battle to recover her assets worth approximately 55 million liras.

Stating that they met on the internet at the end of 2019 and separated at the end of 2023, Kovan said, "After we separated, he took my assets from me. The reason for our separation was his indifference to the fact that they wanted to arrange a betrothal for my 1-year-old daughter, and his acceptance of it. And he wanted me to remain indifferent to this matter. He lives in the Derik Kayacık village in Mardin. Their own daughter-in-law is his aunt. He told me he had arranged a betrothal for my daughter. When I confronted him about this situation, he told me to shut my mouth. He tried to silence me. I took my daughter and fled from there," she said.

"HE MADE ME SELL MY LAND"

Claiming that she had a restaurant and apartments in Mumcular, Bodrum, even before she met A.K., Kovan said, "Our legal process is currently ongoing. I also won the non-pecuniary damages lawsuit. I already had assets in my life; I had my restaurant, my apartment, and real estate I had acquired previously. I had a plot of land in Milas. I had property left by my grandfather. I had assets coming from Denizli. The assets he defrauded me of after entering my life are my apartment, my zoned land in Beyciler, Milas, and my villa. I bought my apartment in 2017 with cash. After this person entered my life, he first made me close my restaurant. We closed my restaurant because he said that in our culture, women do not work and sit at home. Then he told me he would take out a loan from the ÇKS (Farmer Registration System) and that they wouldn't give him a loan because he had no assets in Bodrum. I gave him my apartment in trust. Afterwards, he did not return my apartment. A while later, saying 'We are going to Mardin and coming back, we are enduring all that road,' he made me sell my land. On the day I sold my land, 4 million liras entered his account. I deposited the money from my land into his account. To buy a car. This person bought a luxury vehicle," she said.

"I STAYED FOR 3.5 YEARS, I LIVED IN A 4-HOUSEHOLD VILLAGE"

Claiming that she went to Mardin to take care of her lover's parents, Kovan stated, "I left my comfort in Bodrum. I dressed like them. I adapted to the culture there. I did everything I was supposed to do. I did it out of conscience. I took care of them. Because they were very old. I stayed there for 3.5 years. I lived in a 4-household village. And the whole family of this person was coming and going to my house," she expressed.

"WE WENT THROUGH A VERY DIFFICULT PERIOD"

Stating that she went through very difficult days during the time she lost her brother, Duran said, "When third parties call him and ask why he did such a thing, he says she will return to me with the child in her arms. That's why he took her assets. So he took them entirely out of spite. Furthermore, he transferred my villa into his uncle's name with the power of attorney after we separated. I had given him this power of attorney in 2021 for the money needed for the transplant of my brother, whom I lost to liver disease. It was the pandemic period then. I later forgot about this power of attorney. We went through a very difficult period. We lost my young brother. This gentleman never forgot it, and after we separated, he transferred my villa to his uncle's name using the power of attorney I had given within the same month, at intervals of 2-3 days. Even though I obtained a restraining order. The court placed an injunction on the assets," she said.

"HE DID THIS BECAUSE I TOOK MY DAUGHTER AND FLED"

Claiming that A.K. continues to call her acquaintances, Kovan said, "He continues to put pressure on me and call my circle. There is a restraining order in place right now. Whenever I express my good intentions to him, he displays the same attitude regarding my daughter," she said.

Claiming that she lost a total of approximately 55 million liras in assets, Kovan said, "There is justice in this country. I trust the justice system. He did this because I took my daughter and fled from there. My struggle will continue. I have the documents for these assets of mine; no one can deceive this state," she said.
