She lost her son Oğuz Arda Sel in the Çorlu train disaster... The trial of Mısra Öz has been adjourned

The struggle for justice by Mısra Öz, who lost her 9-year-old son Oğuz Arda Sel in the Çorlu train massacre that occurred on July 8, 2018, has been ongoing for years. Over the years that have passed, numerous lawsuits have been filed against Öz by the relevant authorities, as there has been an attempt to place the grieving mother in a legal vice.

Following a previous case in which she was fined 8,840 TL for "insulting a public official," the Çorlu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has once again filed a lawsuit against Öz for the crime of "insulting a public official due to their duty."

The indictment includes the following statements made by Öz on June 25, 2020, after a hearing at the Çorlu 1st High Criminal Court, in response to a police officer filming her:

"Film, don't be shy, they are all puppets of the Palace. They are all playing the three monkeys. I am Mısra Öz, the mother of Oğuz Arda Sel, film me! These judges made me a defendant; because I told them they are playing the three monkeys... They are clearing the murderers. They cannot even arrest a single person. My child died, my child. Film me, all of you. I may be a defendant, I may even go to prison, but they are a disgrace. Film, don't be ashamed, film. Because you are a police officer, film..."

In the same hearing, the court panel had asked witnesses questions such as, "Did it rain a lot, and if it did, did the chickens perish?" Following the hearing, the reaction Mısra Öz showed to these questions was evaluated in the new indictment as "openly insulting the court panel."

The hearing for the case filed against Öz was held yesterday at the Çorlu 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance. According to the ANKA News Agency, the presiding judge adjourned the hearing.

The hearing for the case filed against Mısra Öz was held yesterday at the Çorlu 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance. Mısra Öz, who did not attend the hearing, submitted an excuse petition to the court and requested an acquittal. According to information obtained by the ANKA News Agency, the presiding judge adjourned the case to July 10.

'THEY WON'T GET OFF MY BACK'

Reacting to the adjournment of her hearing, Mısra Öz stated the following:

"July 8 is the seventh anniversary of my son's death. Scheduling a court date two days later is heartless. I will be in that courtroom in person on July 10. Let them look me in the eye and deliver their verdict. They won't get off my back. They haven't dealt with the murderers as much as they have dealt with me."
