Ship carrying Turkish sailors hijacked in Gulf of Aden rescued after 15 hours

The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs had announced yesterday evening that the chemical tanker named Central Park, owned by the company Zodiac Maritime, could not be contacted since the morning hours while sailing off the coast of Yemen in the Gulf of Aden, and that it was assessed to have been hijacked.

The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs announced that the ship, where Turkish sailors Captain Aydın Hasırcı and 4th Captain Okan Yüksel were serving, was rescued after 15 hours.

In the statement made on the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs' social media account, it was stated: "Communication has been established by the Main Search and Rescue Coordination Center (AAKKM) with the company and the Turkish crew of the Liberia-flagged Central Park tanker, which could not be contacted in the Gulf of Aden, and it has been learned that the ship was rescued after being held for 15 hours and that all personnel are well."
