The Dardanelles fire on the dry cargo ship named AK DISCOVERY has been extinguished following the intervention of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety teams.

One crew member injured in the incident was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The fire broke out on the 107-meter-long dry cargo ship named AK DISCOVERY while it was en route from Egypt to Bulgaria. The captain of the ship, which had 14 crew members on board, reported the situation to the Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services Center Directorate.

While the Kurtarma-13 and Kurtarma-3 tugboats belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety were dispatched to the region, vessel traffic in the Dardanelles was temporarily suspended in both directions.

As a result of the efforts of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety teams, the fire was extinguished, and cooling operations on the ship are ongoing.

On the other hand, it was learned that the 1 crew member injured in the incident was taken to the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Çanakkale State Hospital for treatment.
