Ship traffic in the Bosphorus temporarily suspended for the Anna-S, damaged in a UAV attack
The Liberia-flagged Anna-S, which was hit by a UAV attack off the coast of Russia, is being escorted through the Bosphorus by tugboats; transit traffic has been suspended in both directions.
Transit ship traffic in the Bosphorus has been temporarily suspended in both directions due to the passage of the damaged dry cargo ship Anna-S, which is being brought to Turkey from Russia.
The Liberia-flagged Anna-S was hit by a UAV attack off the coast of Russia's Novorossiysk Port on August 17. It was reported that a fire broke out on the 225-meter-long and 32-meter-wide ship following the attack, causing heavy damage.
Following the attack, all 21 crew members on board were rescued by the Malta-flagged bulk carrier Elina-B, which arrived in the area. It was reported that the Elina-B was also attacked by 2 UAVs approximately 5 hours later, but continued its operations despite sustaining damage.
The Bosphorus passage of the Anna-S, which is being brought to Turkey, is being conducted under the escort of the Kurtarma 6, Kurtarma 7, Kurtarma 9, Kurtarma 14, and Nazım Tur tugboats belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, as well as the Tedy tugboat belonging to PGE Denizcilik, which towed the ship from Russia to Turkey.
The ship is expected to be taken to a shipyard for maintenance and repair operations once the passage is completed. Transit ship traffic in the Bosphorus is expected to return to normal following the passage operation.
