Ship traffic in the Dardanelles returns to normal

In a statement made by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, it was announced that the Dardanelles, which had been closed to one-way traffic 4 hours ago due to a forest fire on the Gallipoli Peninsula, has been reopened to two-way traffic.

Intervention by teams from the air and ground continues in the fire zone, where the village of Büyük Anafarta has been evacuated as a precaution and entries to the Gallipoli Peninsula Historical Site have been halted.

On the Gallipoli Peninsula, a stubble fire that broke out in the Akbaş locality near Kumköy in the Eceabat district spread to the forest, and ship traffic in the Dardanelles had been temporarily suspended in the north-south direction.
