Ship traffic suspended in the Dardanelles
Transit ship traffic in the Dardanelles has been temporarily suspended in both directions due to dense fog. Navigation is expected to return to normal once visibility improves.
Dense fog, which intensified in the morning hours in the Dardanelles, caused visibility at sea to drop.
Following this, the Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services Directorate informed ship captains sailing from the north and south via radio announcement, declaring that transit passages have been suspended in both directions.
Authorities stated that ship traffic will resume once the fog loses its effect. Ships sailing in the strait have been directed to wait in anchorage areas for safety reasons.
