Shocking claim in Hablemitoğlu trial: Prosecutor is FETÖ's Kayseri imam
In the Hablemitoğlu assassination trial, detained defendant Nuri Gökhan Bozkır made a mark on the hearing by claiming that prosecutor Zafer Ergün, who prepared the indictment and was recently appointed to Aksaray, is the "Kayseri imam of FETÖ." A new development regarding the Gaffar Okkan assassination also occurred during the trial process.

In the ongoing Hablemitoğlu assassination trial, detained defendant Nuri Gökhan Bozkır claimed that Zafer Ergün, who prepared the indictment and served as the trial prosecutor before being appointed to Aksaray by a recent HSK decree, is the "Kayseri imam" of "FETÖ."
Bozkır stated, "I am not engaging in demagoguery, Your Honor; FETÖ is still among you and is still very powerful," and subsequently declared that he would not request his release so as not to belittle himself.
Another interesting development in the case was as follows:
The presiding judge announced that the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had requested Levent Göktaş's statements, the indictment, and witness testimonies from this case as part of an investigation into the Gaffar Okkan assassination that has been ongoing since 2014.
The prosecutor submitted an opinion for the continuation of Gökhan Nuri Bozkır's detention and the continuation of judicial control measures, such as travel bans, for the other defendants.
Enes Taner, one of the lawyers for defendant Tarkan Mumcuoğlu, reacted as follows:
"My client has no suspicion of fleeing or tampering with evidence. Because the evidence in this file was tampered with long ago, and the indictment prosecutor continued this tampering. The only person in this file with a suspicion of hiding evidence was the indictment prosecutor. Now that obstacle has also been removed."
Ali Soykan, the lawyer for defendant Levent Göktaş, also pointed out that the letter from the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the Gaffar Okkan assassination was sent two days before the appointment of the indictment and trial prosecutor Zafer Ergün was announced.
Emrah Yücel, the lawyer for Gökhan Nuri Bozkır, recalled that Bozkır was arrested for a second time for violating judicial control, and stated:
"Even a stone would crack in the face of being arrested on these grounds amidst such lawlessness. Fine, my client is at fault, but does Prosecutor Zafer Ergün have no fault at all in the file reaching this state?"
Following the defense lawyers' request for the new trial prosecutor to prepare a new opinion on the merits, the hearing was adjourned until 14:00 for a decision.
The court decided to continue the detention of Gökhan Nuri Bozkır and the judicial control measures for the other defendants, and to refer the file to the prosecutor to notify whether they would make any changes to the opinion on the merits.
The hearing was adjourned to January 30-February 2.
