Shocking testimony in IMM investigation: 'Hüseyin Gün stuck to us like a leech'

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the "İstanbul Senin" (Istanbul is Yours) and "İBB Hanem" (IMM My Home) applications, 4 more IMM employees have been arrested, bringing the total number of detainees to 10. Ulaş Yılmaz, one of the arrested individuals, was questioned regarding Hüseyin Gün, who is currently in custody in an espionage investigation. Yılmaz shared his views on the software program that Hüseyin Gün had attempted to sell to the IMM at a high price.

ULAŞ YILMAZ'S PROSECUTORIAL TESTIMONY

During his interrogation by the prosecutor, Yılmaz stated that he had expressed a negative opinion regarding the feasibility and cost of the program proposed by Hüseyin Gün to the IMM. Yılmaz testified, "I informed Necati Özkan of my negative opinion because the feasibility of the program introduced by Hüseyin Gün did not seem credible to me." Yılmaz added, "I said that the work to be done to provide better municipal services using complaint data was not credible."

"LET'S DO A DEMO AND BE DONE WITH IT"

Yılmaz recounted that in his meeting with Necati Özkan, he noted that Hüseyin Gün had, "so to speak, stuck to us like a leech," and that he had said, "He wants to present a demo; let's listen to him one last time and be done with it." Yılmaz stated that after this meeting, he reinforced his negative opinion and felt no need to attend any further meetings.

NECATİ ÖZKAN'S 'FRAUDSTER' IMPRESSION

Necati Özkan, recalling two meetings he had with Hüseyin Gün in 2019, said, "While companies doing this work in Turkey charge 400-500 dollars a month, Hüseyin Gün demanded approximately 3-4 million dollars from us." Özkan stated, "When we heard this, we rejected the offer. In fact, the individual created the impression of a fraudster in my mind," noting that a minor argument occurred after the offer was rejected.

I ALWAYS PRIORITIZED PUBLIC INTEREST

Ulaş Yılmaz continued his defense by stating, "I never made any request to anyone that was not in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK)." Yılmaz stated that he had no involvement in matters such as sending personal data abroad, matching personal information with location data, or obtaining ballot box data, and that he only knew about these issues as much as had been reported in the press. Yılmaz expressed that he had always prioritized the public interest.
