A new crisis in Israeli politics has emerged with news of a resignation from the Prime Minister's Office. Ziv Agmon, the interim Secretary-General and Spokesperson for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced he was stepping down after his private conversations were leaked to the press.

CONFIRMED THE REMARKS, CLAIMED THEY WERE 'TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT'

In a statement released by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, Ziv Agmon acknowledged that the leaked remarks were his. However, he argued that his words had been taken out of context.

In his statement, Agmon noted that the majority of the conversations in question took place before he assumed his role, and he alleged that these recordings were released as part of a "smear campaign." Claiming that a friend decided to share their private chats last week, Agmon announced that he had submitted his resignation to Netanyahu following these developments.

'BIBI IS FINISHED' REMARKS IN THE RECORDINGS

Agmon's remarks regarding Netanyahu stood out in the phone calls and correspondence that reached the press. In the recordings, Agmon was heard saying, "After the October 7 failure, Bibi is finished."

In the same conversations, he was reported to have said, "The real question is whether the country will survive. Egypt warned Israel about October 7. Likud is finished. If the Egyptians release the recording of the meeting with Bibi, he is finished."

It was also noted that in the leaked correspondence, Agmon frequently used a sticker featuring an image of Netanyahu with his face covered in blood.

The recordings also show Agmon criticizing Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid. It was reported that Agmon stated Lapid was not using Netanyahu's age and health status for propaganda purposes.

In the same remarks, he was recorded saying of Netanyahu, "Bibi fainted in a synagogue on Yom Kippur; he is sick and old."

Agmon's comments regarding Likud lawmakers in the leaked conversations also drew attention. It was stated that Agmon said, "We need to put out an ad for the Likud list in parliament saying 'rapists and murderers wanted,' because there is already a thief, a robber, and a kidnapper on the list."

Furthermore, it was reported that Agmon used terms like "monkey" and "damn Moroccan" to describe Likud's Mizrahi Jewish lawmakers Nissim Vaturi and Eliyahu Revivo. The recordings also reflect that he called Eli Dellal a "clown and a monkey."

A RISING FIGURE IN THE PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE

It was noted that Ziv Agmon had become one of the prominent figures in the Prime Minister's Office following the suspension of Netanyahu's advisor Yonatan Urich due to the 'Katargate' scandal, the investigation into Chief of Staff Tzachi Braverman over allegations of "leaking classified documents," and the removal of Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Council head Tzachi Hanegbi.

ALLEGATIONS REGARDING YAIR NETANYAHU ALSO IN THE RECORDINGS

The leaked content also shows Agmon targeting Netanyahu's son, Yair Netanyahu. It was reported that Agmon alleged Yair Netanyahu had a diplomatic passport issued in his own name.
