Simit, chestnut, and corn carts in Istanbul are changing! Deadline is October 25...
The first examples of mobile simit, chestnut, and corn carts redesigned by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) will be presented to Istanbul residents in Beşiktaş Square starting October 25.
According to the statement made by the İBB, a study is being carried out by the İBB Urban Design Directorate in order to give the mobile simit, corn, and chestnut sales carts located in various squares and busy streets of the city a more innovative and aesthetic appearance.
In this context, different designs have been developed for mobile sales units, especially those located in historical squares and along the shores of the Bosphorus, taking into account the texture of the squares. A total of 9 different concepts have been prepared, with each of the arched, cheerful modern, and totem models having versions for simit, corn, and chestnut vendors.
Solar panels have been used in all of the new sales units for energy efficiency. The units, which will also provide easy cleaning for users thanks to the materials used, are designed with a cover system for cold winter conditions and a platform to keep users off the ground.
The 9 new designs produced will be presented to the appreciation of Istanbul residents in Beşiktaş Square starting from October 25. It is planned to expand the use of these new mobile sales units throughout Istanbul.
