Simultaneous counterfeit alcohol operation in 81 provinces... Raid on poison warehouses
In a major operation conducted across Turkey against counterfeit alcohol, 12 illegal production facilities were dismantled. While 137 suspects were taken into custody, tens of thousands of liters of illicit alcohol were seized.
As the problem of counterfeit alcohol, which has led to the deaths of dozens of people in major cities such as Istanbul and Ankara, continues to grow in Turkey, the Ministry of Interior has taken action with a comprehensive operation. According to information announced by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, simultaneous raids were carried out in 81 provinces across Turkey.
During the operations, 12 illegal counterfeit alcohol production facilities were identified and their operations were shut down. In the raids conducted by police teams, 137 suspects determined to be involved in the counterfeit alcohol production and distribution network were taken into custody.
POISON WAREHOUSES EXPOSED
The amount of counterfeit products seized during the operations is at alarming levels:
More than 63 thousand liters of counterfeit alcohol,
Approximately 97 thousand bottles of counterfeit or illicit alcohol,
Over 66 thousand counterfeit labels,
Thousands of tax stamps and counterfeit bottle caps,
More than 2 thousand alcohol flavorings,
were seized by the teams.
By intercepting these products before they could reach the market, both the safety of citizens was ensured and a major economic loss was prevented.
94 MILLION TL TAX LOSS PREVENTED
According to the assessment made in coordination with the Revenue Administration, approximately 94 million TL in tax losses for the state were prevented thanks to these operations. Minister of Interior Yerlikaya emphasized that they are fighting against counterfeit alcohol not only to protect public health but also to safeguard the state's economic interests.
