Sinan Ateş trial begins tomorrow
The first hearing of the trial regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş will begin tomorrow at Sincan Prison.
Former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş was shot and killed by hitman Eray Özyağcı, who was hiding behind a vehicle, in the Çukurambar district of Ankara on December 30, 2022. The first hearing of the trial opened regarding Ateş's murder will be held tomorrow at Sincan Prison.
In the prepared indictment, aggravated life imprisonment is requested for hitman Eray Özyağcı, as well as Vedat Balkaya and Suat Kurt, who brought him to the scene and helped him escape after the incident, for the crime of "premeditated murder" committed collectively and in complicity, with joint control over the act against Sinan Ateş.
For defendants Doğukan Çep, who is alleged to have "organized the armed action," and suspect former Ülkü Ocakları executive Tolgahan Demirbaş, aggravated life imprisonment is requested for the crime of "premeditated murder committed collectively and in complicity as instigators of the crime against the victim."
For defendants Zekeriya Asarlaya, Hakan Saraç, Ufuk Köktürk, Mehmet Yüce, Mustafa Uzunlar, Aşkın Mert Gelenbey, Murat Can Çolak, Osman Bayraktar, Caner Güney, Umut Ersoy, Çağlar Zorlu, Aytaç Ataç, Emre Yüksel, Serdar Öktem, Erdem Karadeniz, Alper Atay, and Mustafa Ensar Aykal, imprisonment is requested for the crime of "premeditated murder committed collectively and in complicity as perpetrators aiding the crime committed in complicity against the victim."
