Sinan Ateş's sister Selma Ateş calls out to Erdoğan: 'I am receiving threats...'

Ayşe Ateş, the wife of former Idealist Hearths President Sinan Ateş, who lost his life in an assassination in Ankara on December 30, 2022, had been provided with armed protection after announcing that she was receiving threats. Sinan Ateş's sister, Selma Ateş, also stated that she is receiving threats but does not want protection.

According to the report on TELE1; "When my brother also said he was receiving threats and asked for protection, unfortunately, no protection was given to my brother; perhaps if protection had been provided, my brother would be alive," said sister Ateş, adding that she is not afraid of the threats.

Ateş also called on AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emphasizing that he needs to intervene now.

Selma Ateş's statements are as follows:

"I am already receiving intense threats. You know where I am; I live in İzmir, but the threats I receive are clear. However, when my brother also said he was receiving threats and asked for protection, unfortunately, no protection was given to my brother; perhaps if protection had been provided, my brother would be alive. I do not want other people to die because of me or our police officers to be martyred. I do not want protection. I am already ready to die on my brother's path. I am not afraid of their threats; I am not afraid of any of their threats. Because even if 10 of them come together, they cannot equal one Selma Ateş, and they know that I am pursuing the Ateş case to the death. Because I come from within this circle. I know all of them; they will do everything we say they cannot do. If they are low enough to fire bullets at a woman, there is nothing to say to them. I believe the president needs to intervene after this stage. Finally, I invite everyone who wants justice and desires a bright Turkey to the hearing to be held at the Sincan prison campus on July 1. I want you to be by our side because one day, justice will be needed by everyone."

There are so many threats, believe me. From Instagram, from Twitter, from private numbers. We have blocked private numbers now, though. I say it again and again. As women, we—my mother, my sister, me, and the other Ayşe, who is my sister—we will all fight for this justice, we will do our best. As I said, I have never been afraid of anything in my life. The most valuable person in my life is Sinan. I have two children, but Sinan's place was very special. Because with Sinan, I became a sister, a mother, an older brother, a friend, a companion, a sibling. Sinan was very valuable to me. I am willing to go to my death gladly for Sinan's sake. For that reason, I will fight for Sinan until the end of my life, until my last breath. I will do my best to ensure justice. I thank everyone who is by our side at this stage, and I say it again, may God be pleased with you, members of the press. You know more than the judiciary. You share more things. I also thank you for giving me the right to explain. Because, you know, it is said, why don't they talk on other channels?
