Singer Ankaralı Turgut laid to rest

Singer Turgut Karataş, known as Ankaralı Turgut, who was diagnosed with lung cancer and had been fighting for his life at Etlik City Hospital for a long time, passed away early yesterday morning. Artist Karataş had learned he had cancer after going to the hospital for a stomach ailment and was intubated last month. A funeral prayer was held for the artist at the Ortaköy Cemetery Mosque following the noon prayer. In addition to his family and relatives, local artists from Ankara and fans who loved him attended the funeral ceremony. Following the funeral prayer, Karataş was buried in the Mamak Ortaköy Cemetery.

His daughters shed tears as they embraced Karataş's coffin.

Artist Hüseyin Kağıt, who did not leave Ankaralı Turgut alone on his final journey, wished condolences to all of Turkey and his fans, stating, “Our masters, our experts, our brothers who have devoted themselves to Turkish Folk Music are passing away one by one. May God grant long life to those of us remaining. I wish his grieving family condolences.”

“OUR CONDOLENCES TO US ALL”

The artist known as Çubuklu Yaşar, who attended the funeral ceremony, wished condolences to his fans and said, “We are very sad right now. We came all together with my fellow artist friends. Our condolences to us all.”
