Singer Merve Özbey's husband detained in police operation

Police received information that one of the suspects in an ongoing investigation in Istanbul was being smuggled abroad via Edirne.

Teams from the Istanbul Organized Crime Investigation Bureau shared the information they obtained regarding one of the fugitives in the case with the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor's office ordered swift action to apprehend those attempting to smuggle the individual. The Criminal Court of Peace issued detention warrants for the suspects.

DETENTIONS OF POLICE CHIEF AND MERVE ÖZBEY'S HUSBAND

One of the individuals detained by the Istanbul Organized Crime Investigation police was Mehmet Deniz Karakurt, Director of the Edirne Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch.

Another individual detained was Kenan Koçak, the husband of singer Merve Özbey.

DETAINED AT A RESTAURANT

According to a report by Dinçer Gökçe from Halk TV, it was learned that Edirne Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch Director Mehmet Deniz Karakurt was detained at a restaurant in Kırklareli, where he had gone to watch a match the previous night. The unit headed by Karakurt also handles migrant smuggling crimes.
