Sinpaş Kızılbük construction continues despite demolition order

The Sinpaş Kızılbük Resort Hotel and Timeshare construction in the Kızılkum region of the İçmeler neighborhood in Marmaris, Muğla—where initial construction work began in 1987 during the era of the late 8th President Turgut Özal—continues at full speed despite a demolition order. The Muğla Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change recently instructed the Marmaris Municipality to demolish the illegal structure. However, the municipality has not yet carried out the demolition, stating that it is waiting for a 'court decision'.

CONSTRUCTION AT FULL THROTTLE

Journalists captured footage of the concrete hotel complex rising in the heart of nature from the sea yesterday. It was observed that construction work is continuing at full speed. In the hotel construction area, where heavy machinery and trucks were seen coming and going, palm trees were observed to have been planted on the beach section. It is not yet clear when the construction, which is almost complete, will be demolished.

Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü stated regarding the hotel and timeshare construction: "As with all other illegal structures, the Sinpaş Kızılbük Resort Hotel and Timeshare construction is being followed meticulously and seriously, and following the completion of legal processes and the final demolition decision, the demolition work and procedures will be carried out within a work program."

REACTIONS ARE GROWING

Security guards arriving from the construction site by boat attempted to prevent the journalists filming the hotel construction and recorded their own footage. As reactions to the incident poured in, one response came from Selahattin Aydın.

In a statement on his social media account, Aydın said: "There is a so-called demolition order. With a tactic of pacification and stalling, they are ignoring the court and work is continuing rapidly. The power of the public is not enough for them. When it comes to the public, villagers, or workers, they attack with all their might."
