The City Restaurants, which were kept closed for days by the trustee-managed Şişli Municipality citing 'supply issues,' have reopened. Imprisoned Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan stated after the reopening of the City Restaurant, "I paid for all the meal costs from my mayoral salary."
The City Restaurant, which had been closed for some time citing 'supply issues' after the trustee administration appointed to the Şişli Municipality took office, opened today (April 7).
The trustee administration stated, "Our City Restaurants continue to provide service to our public."
A statement regarding the matter also came from the imprisoned Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan.
“Dear residents of Şişli,
Every plate in our City Restaurants is a part of our brotherhood and solidarity. When I heard they opened today, I wanted to pay for all the meals on your behalf with my mayoral salary.
City Restaurants are not a favor, they are the right of the people. Heartfelt greetings to everyone who defends this right.”
