Şişli Mayor announces: 'I shook hands with Minister Işıkhan'

Şişli Mayor Resul Emre Şahan has issued a statement regarding the SGK debt process that began following President Erdoğan's 'shake-up' directive. Şahan announced that they have presented a roadmap to Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan for the repayment of the municipality's debts to the SGK. 

Şişli Mayor Resul Emre Şahan met with members of the press on the occasion of January 10, Working Journalists Day.

Stating that they discussed the issue after securing an appointment with Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, Şahan said:

“I went to the Minister of Labor and Social Security and presented him with a roadmap on how we would settle the SGK debt, along with a solution. But institutions need to talk to each other here. That is, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, the Şişli Municipality, and even the Sarıyer Municipality. Because we talked about an area in Sarıyer where Şişli also has joint ownership. The authority lies with the ministry. We shook hands. There is a problem in Turkey regarding the capacity of institutions to work in harmony to produce solutions to an issue. Even for the model that would settle the SGK debt of just Şişli and Sarıyer, four or five institutions need to work in synchronized harmony for us to solve this. I discussed this matter with the honorable minister. We shook hands.

'WE PRESENTED THE ROADMAP'

By doing all the preliminary work, that is, by undertaking all the preliminary work and explaining it step by step in the roadmap, we discussed this matter with the Ministry, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, and the Governor. We have brought this matter to a certain point. So, from what I see, it is being resolved. If it is not resolved, I will come out and explain it. I mean, we did this and that. This is a transparent and open matter. We presented a roadmap to the Minister. To the honorable Minister. The honorable Minister accepted it. We did all the technical infrastructure work. On the other hand, we also presented it to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. To be honest, the matter is currently between the two ministries. I am waiting for an appointment from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. We are persistently requesting an appointment. Let me say this as well. Hopefully, there will be a meeting next week. If I solve this issue, we will have settled Şişli's SGK debt."
