More than 100 people, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, and Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, were detained in operations conducted yesterday morning.
Hüseyin Ersöz, the lawyer for Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who was detained as part of an investigation launched on terrorism charges citing the 'urban consensus' (kent uzlaşısı), provided information on the latest situation.
'COMPLETE ARBITRARINESS PREVAILS'
According to Ersöz, hours have passed since the detentions, but the statement-taking process has not yet begun. Ersöz said, "Complete arbitrariness prevails. Lawyers are forming long queues in the rain to meet with their clients."
More than 24 hours have passed since the detentions began.
