Bahar Candan and Gülnihal Çiçek, known as Nihal Candan, who are facing charges of fraud and membership in a criminal organization, are appearing before a judge today. In the trial to be held at the Küçükçekmece 5th High Criminal Court, prosecutors are seeking prison sentences of 14 to 44 years for Bahar Candan and 8 to 24 years for Nihal Candan. Arriving at the courthouse before the hearing, Nihal Candan avoided answering questions.

DETAILS OF THE INDICTMENT

The indictment prepared by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office includes 38 complainants, 1 complainant-suspect, and 21 suspects, including Nihal and Bahar Candan.

The indictment states that the network, led by organization leaders Onur Apaydın and İlker Oflu, defrauded citizens using the "sazan sarmalı" (carp spiral) method by claiming to sell vehicles at low prices. It is also alleged that Bahar and Nihal Candan were part of the criminal organization's hierarchical structure.

BAHAR CANDAN SERVED AS THE ORGANIZATION'S TREASURER

The indictment states that Bahar Candan played an active role in deceiving victims during special meetings organized by the criminal organization for fraudulent activities. It is noted that Bahar Candan managed the financial affairs of organization leader Onur Apaydın and served as a "secret accountant and treasurer."

ALLEGATION THAT CANDAN WAS THE ORGANIZATION LEADER'S GIRLFRIEND

According to witness statements in the indictment, it is alleged that Nihal Candan was the girlfriend of organization leader Onur Apaydın, attended organization meetings, and was treated with respect by other members. The indictment also includes claims that Nihal Candan participated in discussions at meetings regarding the organization's internal operations and car trading business.

The indictment requests that Bahar Candan be sentenced to 2 to 4 years for membership in a criminal organization and 14 to 44 years for fraud. For Nihal Candan, prison sentences of 8 to 24 years are requested for the same crimes. Prison sentences of varying lengths are being sought for the other 20 suspects.
