The canoeing adventure of a 65-year-old Lithuanian tourist visiting Australia on the Franklin River in the state of Tasmania ended badly. The tourist, who was canoeing with friends, lost their balance and fell into the water. After being swept away, the tourist became stranded in the area with their leg trapped in rocks. Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area after the tourist's smartwatch sent an emergency distress signal one hour later.
