Snow disrupts education in 13 provinces
Schools have been closed in several provinces and districts across Turkey due to the impact of snowfall.
Due to cooling temperatures across the country and heavy snowfall in some regions negatively affecting daily life, schools were closed today in 13 provinces.
ARDAHAN
In Ardahan, primary and secondary schools were closed on Monday due to adverse weather conditions.
A written statement from the Governor's Office noted that snowfall and blizzards across the province have disrupted transportation.
The statement, which announced that all schools would be closed tomorrow (Monday) due to the transportation disruptions, also stated that pregnant and disabled personnel working in public institutions and organizations would be considered on administrative leave on the same day.
ONE-DAY BREAK IN EDUCATION IN ERZURUM
The Erzurum Governor's Office announced that schools across the province would be closed tomorrow (Monday) due to adverse weather conditions.
In a statement from the Governor's Office, it was reported that education in primary and secondary schools in the Aziziye, Palandöken, and Yakutiye districts has been suspended for one day due to ongoing heavy snow and adverse weather conditions across the province.
The statement also noted that pregnant, disabled, and chronically ill personnel working in public institutions in these districts would be considered on administrative leave on the same day.
Meanwhile, the district governorships of Çat, Tekman, Karayazı, Hınıs, Aşkale, İspir, and Pasinler also announced that schools would be closed for one day due to adverse weather conditions.
SNOW DISRUPTS EDUCATION IN KARS AND ERZİNCAN
In Kars, schools were closed tomorrow (Monday) across the province due to adverse weather conditions.
In a statement from the Kars Governor's Office, it was reported that all schools would be closed tomorrow (Monday) due to the risk of icing caused by cold weather conditions.
It was also stated that disabled, pregnant, and personnel over the age of 60 working in public institutions would be considered on administrative leave.
ONE-DAY BREAK IN EDUCATION AT KAFKAS UNIVERSITY
Due to adverse weather conditions in the city, education at Kafkas University (KAÜ) has been suspended for 1 day.
In a statement from the university, it was reported that education and training in all units of the university were suspended on Monday, December 25, due to the risk of icing caused by cold weather conditions.
It was also noted that disabled, pregnant, and personnel over the age of 60 would be considered on administrative leave.
ERZİNCAN
Adverse weather conditions are also affecting the Refahiye district of Erzincan.
In a statement made from the Refahiye District Governorship's social media account, it was stated that education and training were suspended across the district on Monday, December 25, due to the ongoing snowfall, the risk of icing that may occur at night, and potential disruptions in transportation.
It was also noted that pregnant, disabled, and chronically ill personnel working in public institutions and organizations would be considered on administrative leave on December 25.
BİNGÖL
Education has been suspended for 1 day in the Karlıova, Kiğı, Yedisu, and Adaklı districts of Bingöl due to adverse weather conditions.
In a statement from the Governor's Office, it was stated that snowfall continues to be effective in the 4 districts.
The statement noted that education in the Kiğı district would be suspended tomorrow (Monday) due to the danger of icing on the roads, and that pregnant and disabled public employees would be considered on administrative leave on the same day, while in the Yedisu and Adaklı districts, education was suspended in schools with bused education.
SNOW DISRUPTS BUSED EDUCATION IN KASTAMONU
Another closure announcement came from Kastamonu. It was announced that bused education in the province was suspended for one day.
In a statement from the Kastamonu Governor's Office, it was stated that heavy snowfall was particularly effective in the villages.
The statement included the following:
"As it is assessed that there will be icing on village roads at night following the heavy snowfall in our villages, education and training have been suspended across the province on Monday, exclusively for our students within the scope of bused education."
SCHOOLS CLOSED IN AĞRI
Schools were also closed in Ağrı, where adverse weather conditions are effective.
The Ağrı Governor's Office announced that schools across the province would be closed on Monday, December 25, due to adverse weather conditions.
While education was suspended in primary and secondary schools and private educational institutions across the province, public personnel who are pregnant, disabled, or have chronic illnesses will also be considered on administrative leave for 1 day.
'SNOW' DISRUPTS EDUCATION IN ARTVİN
Snowfall was effective in Artvin. Education and training were suspended for one day across the province.
Artvin Governor Cengiz Ünsal announced in a statement on his social media account that education and training in all schools across the province were suspended for 1 day against snow and possible icing events.
In his post, Governor Ünsal stated, "Due to heavy snowfall, adverse weather conditions, and icing, education and training in the center of Artvin have been suspended for 1 day on Monday, December 25. Our disabled and pregnant personnel working in public institutions and organizations will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day."
SNOW DISRUPTS EDUCATION IN 4 DISTRICTS OF VAN
In Van, education was suspended tomorrow (Monday) in all schools in the Çaldıran district, and in schools within the scope of bused education in the Muradiye, Çatak, and Özalp districts due to adverse weather conditions.
In a statement from the Muradiye District Governorship, it was stated that adverse weather conditions were effective in the district. The statement noted that education was suspended tomorrow (Monday) in all schools within the scope of bused education due to heavy snow and the danger of icing on the roads.
In a statement from the Provincial Directorate of National Education, it was announced that all primary and secondary schools and other educational institutions in the Çaldıran district were closed tomorrow (Monday) due to adverse weather conditions.

TUNCELİ
Another closure announcement came from Tunceli.
Schools in the Pülümür district of the city were closed for one day due to snowfall and icing.
In a statement made by the Pülümür District Governorship, it was said: "Due to the heavy snowfall and icing in our district, education and training in our district's schools have been suspended for (1) one day on Monday, December 25, 2023."
In addition, it was announced that education was suspended for one day across the province of Bayburt, in the Çamoluk district of Giresun, and in the Ovacık and Eflani districts of Karabük.
