Snow, storms, avalanches... Winter is coming this week! Meteorology issued a warning

The General Directorate of Meteorology has shared the weather map for the coming week. Accordingly, partly to very cloudy weather is expected across the country. 

It is estimated that the Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Western and Central Black Sea regions, as well as the surroundings of Mersin, Giresun, Trabzon, and Gümüşhane, will experience intermittent precipitation. The precipitation is expected to be heavy rain and downpours in the south and east of Marmara, the Aegean coast, the Western Black Sea coast, and the surroundings of Manisa, Denizli, Burdur, and Antalya, and heavy sleet and snow in the surroundings of Bilecik, Uşak, Kütahya, Isparta, Eskişehir, Ankara, Çankırı, Bolu, Karabük, Kastamonu, and Çorum. 

ATTENTION! THERE IS AN AVALANCHE RISK

Icing and frost, along with haze and occasional fog, are expected in the inner and eastern parts of the country. There is an avalanche risk on the steep and sloping hillsides in the high inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea region and the east of Eastern Anatolia.

YELLOW ALERT FOR 13 CITIES

Meteorology has issued a yellow-coded warning for “Aydın, Balıkesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Çanakkale, Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, Manisa, Muğla, Sakarya, Tekirdağ, and Yalova.”

SNOW IS COMING TO ANKARA THIS EVENING

CNN TÜRK Meteorology Consultant Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated, “Today, in the morning and afternoon, there will be heavy rain in Marmara, the Aegean, and the Mediterranean; in the afternoon, first the inner parts of the Western Black Sea, and in the evening, the inner parts of Central Anatolia and the west of Eastern Anatolia will see sleet, with snow in the higher elevations. On Monday, the inner parts of Anatolia will see sleet and snow. There is no precipitation expected for the rest of the coming week.”
