Snow warning from the Istanbul Governor's Office: Date announced

The Istanbul Governor's Office has issued a warning that light sleet and occasional light snowfall are expected in the higher parts of the city starting from Saturday evening.

Snow warning from the Istanbul Governor's Office: Date announced

According to meteorological assessments, air temperatures, which have been above seasonal norms across most of Turkey, are expected to drop by 10 to 15 degrees starting from the western regions on Saturday, and by up to 18 degrees in some parts of the Black Sea region, falling below seasonal norms.

Due to the expected cold and rainy weather, it is estimated that on Saturday, the Marmara, Aegean, Western and Central Mediterranean, western parts of Central Anatolia, Western and Central Black Sea regions, and the vicinity of Yozgat will experience intermittent precipitation. The precipitation is expected to be generally in the form of rain and showers, with occasional thunderstorms along the Aegean coast and the Western Mediterranean coast, and sleet and snow in the southwest of the Marmara region, the interior parts of the Western Black Sea, and the higher elevations of the interior regions after the evening hours.

Starting from the early hours of Sunday, the precipitation expected in the interior regions is forecast to be in the form of sleet and snow. Citizens have been warned against risks that may be caused by heavy precipitation, storms, snowfall, as well as icing and frost.

WARNING FROM THE ISTANBUL GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

A meteorological warning was also issued by the Istanbul Governor's Office. The statement from the Governor's Office noted the following:

"Air temperatures, which have been above seasonal norms in our region, are estimated to drop by 8 to 10 degrees in Istanbul starting from Saturday afternoon, falling below seasonal norms. Due to the expected cold and rainy weather, precipitation in Istanbul on Saturday is expected to be intermittent, generally in the form of rain and showers, and locally heavy. After the evening hours, there is a possibility of light sleet and occasional light snowfall in the higher parts of Istanbul. Over the weekend, the lowest daily air temperatures in Istanbul are expected to drop to 3 degrees, and the highest air temperatures are expected to drop to 7 degrees."
