Snowfall continues to affect Turkey: Schools ordered to close in 6 provinces
Governorates in Samsun, Giresun, and Kastamonu have decided to close schools on Monday, February 24, due to adverse weather conditions.
Schools across the provinces of Samsun and Giresun, as well as in 5 districts of Kastamonu, have been closed for Monday, February 24. In all three provinces, governorates announced that education has been suspended for one day as part of measures taken against heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions.
A written statement from the Giresun Governorate noted that, according to meteorological data, heavy snowfall, frost, and icing are expected to continue. The statement declared that education and training in all educational institutions across the province will be suspended for one day on Monday, February 24. Additionally, it was announced that veterans, pregnant employees, and personnel with disabilities working in public institutions will be considered on administrative leave.
The Giresun University Rectorate also announced that education and training in all units of the university will be suspended tomorrow.
In Kastamonu, schools were closed for one day in the districts of Devrekani, İnebolu, Küre, Doğanyurt, and Pınarbaşı due to adverse weather conditions. The statement from the Governorate said that education is suspended on Monday, February 24, and that public personnel with disabilities and pregnant employees will be considered on administrative leave.

EDUCATION SUSPENDED FOR ONE DAY IN SAMSUN
Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı announced that schools in all educational institutions across the province have been closed for one day due to the heavy snowfall and icing that continue to affect the region. Governor Tavlı stated that, according to warnings from the 10th Regional Directorate of Meteorology, heavy snowfall is expected to continue in the province, and disruptions in transportation may occur due to icing and frost.
Noting that pregnant employees, personnel with disabilities, and mothers whose children attend daycare or kindergarten in public institutions will also be considered on administrative leave for one day, Tavlı stated the following:
''As a precautionary measure, education and training in all official and private, formal and non-formal educational institutions and rehabilitation centers affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, daycares affiliated with the Directorate of Family and Social Services, and need-based daytime and 4-6 age Quran courses affiliated with the Mufti's Office across our province have been suspended for one day on Monday, February 24.''
The Governorates of Bartın, Zonguldak, and Sinop also issued statements noting that schools were closed on February 24 due to adverse weather conditions. In total, education will be suspended for one day on Monday in 6 provinces.
