A so-called congress had convened: Political doors will be opened for PKK terrorists

The so-called congress of the terrorist organization PKK has convened as part of the new reconciliation process, dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government, which was architected by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

All eyes are now turned to the terrorist organization's announcement regarding its dissolution and decision to lay down arms. Okan Müderrisoğlu, a columnist for the pro-government newspaper Sabah, evaluated the developments that may occur during this new reconciliation process.

In his article titled "As we bid farewell to arms, what will happen next?", Müderrisoğlu noted the following:

"Once the terrorist organization ceases to exist, the door will be opened for the entry into the country of those who have not committed acts of terrorism in Turkey, and they will be allowed to reintegrate into life depending on the clarification of their legal status. The terror barons in Qandil will either remain in Iraq or go to third countries where an agreement has been reached. Political channels will be opened for those who have accounted for their actions before the justice system; the method of engaging in politics will not serve separatism, and loyalty to the ancient state will be essential.

It is understood that... The leader of the organization feels safe in Imralı and does not want to leave the island for now. In this case, despite his status as a convict, the establishment of a physical working environment and communication facilities on the island, as well as the expansion of the scope and number of visitors, may be on the agenda."
