Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi stated that Denizbank has dragged Fatih Terim into the mix in the high-interest, foreign-currency-based fund scandal. While remarking, "If we made a movie of it, it would break box office records. 'Ponzi Seçil' in theaters. After the 'Sazan Spiral' (sucker spiral), the literature would also gain the 'Seçil spiral'," Selvi commented on Denizbank and Fatih Terim, saying, "Everything is there, but nothing is there. Fatih Terim, who is alleged to have had a fund established in his name, is not there. Denizbank, where all these transactions were carried out, is not there. Selvi wrote the following in his column:

"Terim gathers the players and goes to Denizbank General Manager Hakan Ateş. They are pressuring the bank to pay back the money that was lost. Already, Seçil Erzan says in court, 'The money he wanted started to become very, very, very much. He paid me 300 thousand dollars. I somehow kept that money going.' The presiding judge asks, 'Who gave you this 300 thousand dollars?' Seçil Erzan replies, 'This person is Fatih Terim.'
