Social media broadcaster Kartal Bulut Doğan arrested for insulting religious values
Social media broadcaster Kartal Bulut Doğan, who was detained in İzmir on allegations of insulting Atatürk and his mother Zübeyde Hanım, has been arrested following police processing. Although it was claimed that the broadcasts in question were made under the influence of alcohol, Doğan was sent to prison.
As part of an investigation launched by the Karşıyaka Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in İzmir, a detention warrant was issued for social media broadcaster Kartal Bulut Doğan on charges of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting,' 'crimes committed against Atatürk,' and 'insulting the memory of a person.'

Following the decision, Doğan was apprehended by police teams at his home yesterday and taken into custody. It was learned that the suspect stated in his testimony that he made the remarks in the broadcasts in question under the influence of alcohol. After being processed at the police station, Kartal Bulut Doğan was referred to the courthouse and subsequently arrested and sent to prison.

The remarks Doğan made about Atatürk in one of his broadcasts drew widespread backlash.
