Social media post from Ercan Kesal for detained youth

Renowned actor Ercan Kesal shared a message on the first day of Ramadan Bayram for the young people detained during protests against the arrest and removal from office of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu. 

Ercan Kesal, who shared the post on his social media account, stated the following:

Eduardo Galeano has a story that makes me shiver every time I read it. In a children's hospital in Managua, all the staff and doctors had gone home early before the New Year. Dr. Fernando, the hospital director, who was preparing to go home after his final checks, hears footsteps in the corridor. When he turns around, he sees one of the sick children following him. He recognizes this ill-fated, lonely child who comes silently in the dim light. He looks for a while at the sick child's face, now wrinkled by death, and at his eyes, which seem to move as if asking for permission. The sick child reaches out his hands to the doctor and whispers, “tell someone…” “tell someone that I am here.”

Today is March 30, 2025. The first day of the holiday. There are 301 children inside who are spending the holiday away from their families... Tell someone!'
