Some roads to be closed to traffic due to İlber Ortaylı's funeral
It has been announced that vehicle access will be restricted on many streets and avenues in Istanbul's Fatih district ahead of the funeral ceremony for Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, which will take place tomorrow.
The Istanbul Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch announced that some roads in Fatih will be closed to traffic starting at 09:00 tomorrow morning due to the funeral ceremony for the renowned historian and academic Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı.
The roads to be closed include İtfaiye Street, Büyük Karaman Street, Aslanhane Street, Mıhçılar Street, Manisalı Fırın Street, Taylasan Street, Hulusi Noyan Street, Nalbant Demir Street, Hattat Nazif Street, and Fatih Türbesi Street. As the ceremony is expected to be heavily attended, drivers are advised to use alternative routes in these areas.
Authorities announced that Kız Taşı Street and Haydar Bey Street, in particular, may be preferred as alternative routes to reduce traffic congestion.
