A sorrowful anniversary at Ebrar Sitesi

A commemoration event was held on the second anniversary of the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, centered in Kahramanmaraş and described as the 'Disaster of the Century,' at Ebrar Sitesi, which consisted of 22 blocks and where approximately 1,400 people lost their lives.

Families who emerged from the rubble and lost their loved ones are keeping watch at the rebuilt Ebrar Sitesi to commemorate the earthquake martyrs.

Ali Harmancı, who lived in Ebrar Sitesi and was pulled from the rubble during the earthquakes, said, "We had been living in Ebrar Sitesi for 24 years, we lived in Block A. My wife, myself, and my brother were together; we collapsed in 5 seconds. May God protect our state and our nation, and may God have mercy on those who died. We are at a loss for words; our new home has been assigned in the lottery."

Hatice Tunçbilek, who lost her relatives at Ebrar Sitesi, said, "It was an unforgettable night, it was like a small apocalypse. Our pain is actually great; we do not forget this pain."

Fındık Aksu, who lost 12 relatives at Ebrar Sitesi, said, "I lost my children here. I waited here for 9 days; my lambs were pulled out in pieces, and we were buried just like them. This is the first time I have come here; I cannot turn around and look. My children's home has been painted and decorated, but my children are not here."
