Soylu's commentary on the indictment: It has not allowed the structure attempting to change Turkey's political direction
AKP Istanbul MP Süleyman Soylu stated, "The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, with the indictment it has prepared, has not allowed the structure that attempts to change Turkey's future and political direction."
In a post on his social media account, Süleyman Soylu stated, "The law has done what is necessary with the IMM indictment; it has protected the 'dignity' of politics against structures that want to hold politics captive through capital, financial power, and external connections. The nation entrusts the power to govern or supervise to the politician through the ballot box, through democracy, that is, through its own will.
In contrast, capital wants to design politics all over the world; however, in politics where popular sovereignty is strong, it does not even dare to compete with the one chosen by the people.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, with the indictment it has prepared, has not allowed the structure that attempts to seize parties through fraud, intrigue, corruption, and proceeds of crime, and to change Turkey's future and political direction. If this dark mechanism had not been noticed in time, the nation's most fundamental power—the right to vote, the ballot box, and free elections—would have been disabled by the fraudulent methods of financial power and external designers," he said.
Emphasizing that politicians can also make mistakes, Soylu said, "God forbid. They were going to try to complete the attempt to occupy Turkey, which they failed to achieve on July 15, this time with money, operations, espionage, and similar methods; by discrediting, intimidating, and liquidating everyone. A politician makes mistakes and also hits the mark; however, everything they do is before the eyes of the nation.
In parties, the congress makes the decision; in the country, the election makes the decision; there is no power above the will of the nation manifested through the ballot box. A system where votes are bought with money and results are changed in exchange for money in dubious party congresses renders politics void, destroys democracy, and replaces it with the tutelage of capital. This is to leave Turkey under the control of an oligarchic structure from within and without, and to liquidate the national will," he said.
Emphasizing that everything in politics will change but the thing that does not change is the will of the people, Soylu noted the following:
"Because if those who want to engage in politics are defeated by the power of money, the bond between society and politics is severed. Politics becomes class-based even though it does not deserve it at all, and oligarchy seizes politics. It will be us, it will be someone else; the government changes, the opposition changes. But the only thing that does not change is what the nation chooses.
The law intervenes at exactly this point; it has cut the arms of this structure that tries to wrap around politics and the national will like an octopus, and has set a firm barrier against the tutelage that is intended to be established in front of the state, the nation, and democracy. The politics of this country is no one's operational field.
No focus can seize Turkish politics or adjust Turkish democracy with money, threats, blackmail, espionage, or external connections. Every hand reaching out to the nation's will, the honor of the ballot box, and the legitimacy of politics will be broken, and every structure will be held accountable before the law. Everyone who is engaged in politics today should look at what is happening from this perspective as well."
