SPK files criminal complaint against Yeniçağ over that news report: Journalists are among those named!
The Capital Markets Board (SPK) has filed a criminal complaint against a number of executives, including journalists, at Yeniçağ Internet Newspaper regarding a report dated March 16 titled "The dollar will rise to this figure in 15 days. It leaked from the Central Bank's report."
The Capital Markets Board (SPK) has announced that it has filed a criminal complaint against those found to have provided false information by influencing foreign exchange rates.
The statement issued by the SPK read as follows:
"The report published on 16.03.2024 in Yeniçağ Internet Newspaper under the headline 'The dollar will rise to this figure in 15 days. It leaked from the Central Bank's report,' which distorts the information in the March report of the Market Participants Survey periodically published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB), is entirely untrue.
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST YENİÇAĞ
A criminal complaint has been filed by our Board against Yeniçağ Internet Newspaper Managing Editor Erdem AVŞAR and the officials he reports to, including Deputy Editor-in-Chief Eray EROLLU, Editor-in-Chief Fatih ERGİN, the owner of the publication Yeniçağ Gazetecilik ve Matbaacılık A.Ş. Chairman of the Board Kemal ÇELİK and Legal Entity Representative Ahmet ÇELİK, as well as Burak ÖZTUNALI, the Managing Editor of the website 'paradurumu.com' shown as the source of the news, its Editorial Consultant Ali GÜVEN, and its owner Özlem DENİZMEN, for providing false information with the intent to create distrust in the national economy and the money and capital markets, in accordance with Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code, titled 'Publicly disseminating misleading information.'"
