Sports commentator Sabri Ugan has passed away

Sabri Ugan, who had lung cancer, had been under treatment in the hospital for some time due to the progression of the disease.

Sabri Ugan, who was intubated in his final days, passed away today.

Ugan's son, Doruk Ugan, shared the news of his passing on his social media account with the words, "We have lost my dear father. I will share the funeral details later."

The Turkish Football Federation also published a message of condolence regarding Ugan's passing, which included the following statements:

"We have learned with deep sorrow that Sabri Ugan, one of the doyens of the Turkish sports media, who was a commentator, moderator, presenter, voice actor, and author, has passed away.

Ugan, who began his career as a reporter at Sakarya Gazetesi in 1985 and rose to the position of sports director in 1991, took on various roles on different channels and platforms alongside his commentary work, and was deemed worthy of the 'Sports Program of the Year' award in 2019.

Not limiting himself to the sports media, Ugan, who wrote a book titled 'Arda Turan: Lion-Hearted Captain,' which serves as a biography of our former national football player Arda Turan, in addition to his voice-over work, left a mark on the memories of Turkish football fans, especially with his commentary on our representatives' matches in European cups and Süper Lig games.

We wish God's mercy upon the late Sabri Ugan; we extend our condolences to his family, relatives, loved ones, and the entire sports media."
