Starbucks issues statement regarding boycott calls! 'We would like to share the facts'

Starbucks has issued a series of statements regarding allegations and boycott calls against the company worldwide, denying claims related to Israel. 

Starbucks Turkey has shared with the public all statements it has made to date regarding the allegations against the company. On the company's official website, the statement read: "In response to misinformation and false news circulating on social media and news channels, we would like to share the facts about the values that Starbucks believes in and stands for."

The following words were included under the heading "What statement did Starbucks make regarding the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict?":

"As Starbucks, we stand for 'Humanity' and human values. We condemn violence, the loss of innocent lives, and the language of hate that has become a weapon. We will continue to maintain this position without change.

Contrary to false news and baseless claims spread on social media, the Starbucks brand has no involvement with or connection to any political entity. Company revenue and profits have never been and will never be used to fund any government or military operation.

The following response was given by Starbucks to allegations regarding the company's presence in the Middle East:

"Contrary to false news and baseless claims spread on social media, the Starbucks brand has no involvement with or connection to any political entity. We have never used and will never use our profits to fund any government or military operation.

In another statement where the question "Is Starbucks a political organization?" was asked, it was stated: "No, the Starbucks brand has no involvement with or connection to any political entity. We have never used and will never use our profits to fund any government or military operation."

In statements released regarding Starbucks Executive Vice President Sara Kelly filing a lawsuit against the union named Starbucks Workers United, an explanation was also provided as to why this lawsuit was filed.

The statement included the following:

"Starbucks filed a lawsuit to ensure the safety of its partners/employees and store operations, and to prevent Workers United from using the brand's name and logo.

The statements made by the union in early October regarding the conflict in the Middle East were published on social media using our company's logo and name. These statements were then mistakenly associated with Starbucks instead of Workers United and its affiliates/representatives.

Associating these statements with Starbucks created confusion, leading to threats against our partners/employees, damage to our stores, and calls for boycotts.

Starbucks respects everyone's right to express their own views on both the conflicts in the Middle East and other political and social issues. However, it strictly does not approve of the unauthorized use of its brand name and logos while such views are being expressed."

Starbucks, which frequently makes headlines with strikes, also added its statement on the matter to the compilation. The statement said, "With a decision taken in 2023, the vast majority of our shareholders called for an independent assessment of Starbucks employees' organizing principles and collective bargaining rights."

The statement concluded as follows:

"The assessment clearly and unequivocally revealed no evidence that Starbucks has an 'anti-union agenda.' The same assessment also confirms that the company respects the rights of its partners/employees to come together and secures their rights to organize collectively through fairly conducted elections.

The assessment also concluded that Starbucks acted in accordance with union and collective bargaining principles. Of course, there are still things that need to be done to ensure compliance with the stated commitments and contract principles."
