Statement from the Aci family following the extradition decision for Eylem Tok and her son Cihantimur: 'He canceled sentence reductions'
Following Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç's announcement that Eylem Tok and her son Timur Cihantimur would be extradited to Turkey, all eyes turned to the family of Oğuz Murat Aci. The grieving family has issued their first statement regarding the extradition decision.
It has been decided that 17-year-old Cihantimur, who has been in custody since June 2024 at Turkey's request, and his mother will be extradited to Turkey.
Justice Minister Tunç announced that the decision has been made for the extradition of Timur Cihantimur and his mother, Eylem Tok, who helped him flee abroad, from the US to Turkey. Following the decision, the first statement came from the family of Oğuz Murat Aci.
According to the report by Kübra Karasu from CGTN Türk, Oğuz Murat Aci's father, Özer Aci, said the following after the extradition decision:
"We have reached the goal we expected and desired from the very beginning.
We said 'we are right,' we said 'come and surrender to Turkish justice.' They paid the price for fleeing to the US.
'Come and surrender to Turkey,' we said. A killer mother, a killer child will face whatever their punishment is.
Most likely, a similar decision will be issued for Eylem Tok.
Let them come, let us say welcome. I believe that Turkish justice will conduct a fair trial.
Our hearts have been eased. Our President has also canceled sentence reductions for such situations; I hope they will be applied to them as well."
