Statement from Bahçeli after shaking hands with DEM Party members: 'A new era'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli answered questions directed at him by journalists at the new legislative year reception held at the Parliament. 

When asked about shaking hands with Özel and Bakırhan during the opening of the new legislative year at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), Bahçeli replied, "We are entering a new era. While we want peace in the world, we must ensure peace in our own country."

When asked by a journalist about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's warnings toward Israel at the opening of the new legislative year, Devlet Bahçeli stated that Erdoğan stands firmly on potential developments and, in this sense, is also warning the Turkish nation.

Upon another journalist's question, "You had harsh criticisms of Özgür Özel today, but then it came to shaking hands. How do you evaluate this?" Bahçeli used the expression, "A handshake is a sign of evaluation."

When asked, "You also had contact with the DEM Party. You offered condolences," MHP Chairman Bahçeli replied, "Yes, that is correct."
