Statement from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel regarding the arrest decision

Özel used the following expressions:

The government is openly applying the law of the enemy to everyone who is not one of them.

Finally, arresting Mr. Suat Toktaş for doing journalism is not only an attack on press freedom but also a clear attack on the public's right to receive information. 

This lawlessness is an attempt to punish not just journalists, but the entire society, and is part of a plan to intimidate the free press. However, we will not be intimidated, nor will those who defend the public's right to learn the truth bow to these pressures. 

The government is trying to get Turkey used to the murder of law, the disregard for justice, and arbitrary arrests. But we will not get used to these anti-democratic practices; we will expose this dark order and we will resist. 

Everyone who defends democracy, freedom, and justice will fight shoulder to shoulder against this darkness.

To change this order, for the rule of law, for a free society 

The only solution is change!

The only solution is the ballot box!

Let everyone know: We will not be silent, Turkey will not be silent!
