Statement from Ekrem İmamoğlu's lawyer regarding the 'case file' before the hearing: 'The court has been left without a file'

Polat stated that the court process in the case filed against İmamoğlu has been continuously delayed for various reasons.

Polat said, "The right to a fair trial, provided it does not end in an acquittal... This time, the court has been left without a file before the hearing!"

İmamoğlu's lawyer Kemal Polat said, "The physical original of the file was requested from the court by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office one day prior, and thus the case reaching a verdict in this state has been delayed for three hearings!"

Polat used the following expressions in his post on his social media account:

"The right to a fair trial, provided it does not end in an acquittal...

This time, the court has been left without a file before the hearing!

This file is the file of the case opened against my client, Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, despite the Council of State determining that there were no findings that would be the subject of a criminal investigation.

After the file was perfected to result in an acquittal as a result of two separate expert reports consisting of retired Court of Accounts auditors, which stated that there was no violation of tender legislation and no public loss; the prosecutor, who requested time to present his opinion on the merits at the previous hearing, took sick leave one day before the hearing and did not attend. At the next hearing, despite having been expected to provide a statement on this matter for months, he requested time to examine another file to which Mr. İmamoğlu is not a party. Now, the physical original of the file has been requested from the court by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office one day prior, and thus the case reaching a verdict in this state has been delayed for three hearings! It is likely to be the fourth tomorrow..."
