Statement from İmamoğlu's lawyer on the 'fool case': Claims that 'the verdict was upheld in the appellate court'...

Kemal Polat, the lawyer for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, shared a post on his social media account regarding the case publicly known as the 'Fool Case'. 

Polat's statement is as follows:

"I believe that rumors such as '...the verdict was upheld in the appellate court, it will be announced very soon' regarding the 'fool case' have no meaning beyond an effort to create a strong expectation that the verdict will be upheld, and subsequently to foster a psychology of 'we were already expecting this, what else would happen...', and I think that this unlawful verdict, which has been rejected by the conscience of the public, will not find a place in the consciences of legal professionals either. I have never had, and will not have, any unlawful expectations, and I will not get used to the idea that lawlessness is normal..."
