Statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Özgür Özel's 'suicide attempt' claim: Murat Emir had shared a video

In the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office statement, regarding Özel's claims that "They took the statements that Çınar made months ago and had İlke say them," it was stated: "It has been clearly understood that the testimony date of the witness codenamed İlke was 18/11/2024, and the testimony date of the witness codenamed Çınar was 21/11/2024, a date very close to the mentioned statement, and as a result, the statements made are of a disinformation nature."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, at the CHP's Sultanbeyli rally last night, regarding the IMM file, claimed: "There were initially three secret witnesses.

They have increased their number to 15. There are accusations made by slanderers against dozens of our friends. At first, there was a Çınar. He would make every slander.

Everywhere, 'According to what Çınar said, according to what Çınar said.' Then they fell out with this Çınar. The words spoken by this Çınar, the promises made to this Çınar, and the lies told by this Çınar did not match each other. They started not to let this Çınar onto the seventh floor. This Çınar attempted suicide on the sixth floor."

Özel said, "The truth that all courthouse reporters know, that everyone knows at the courthouse, is this. The person in that suicide attempt incident is Çınar himself. It is clear from this that it is a setup."

"Regarding the investigation being conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the İmamoğlu criminal organization;

It is understood that on 12/11/2025, during a rally organized by his party, Republican People's Party Chairman Özgür Özel stated that 'a statement was taken from a secret witness codenamed Çınar regarding the investigation, that the promises and words given to the witness later did not match the witness's lies, that the witness started not to be allowed on the seventh floor, that the witness codenamed Çınar attempted suicide on the sixth floor of our courthouse, and that the statements this witness made months ago were taken from him and had another secret witness codenamed İlke say them,' and that on the same date, a video regarding a suicide attempt incident that occurred within our Courthouse was shared on social media by the party's group deputy chairman Murat Emir regarding the words uttered by Özgür Özel.

As a result of the research conducted on the subject;

It has been clearly understood that the incident in the video shared on the social media account relates to a suicide attempt by a citizen that took place on 26.08.2025, that our security guards intervened in the incident and persuaded the person to give up on suicide, that the person is neither of the individuals codenamed Çınar and İlke, whose statements were taken within the scope of the investigation into the criminal organization and for whom witness protection procedures were applied, and furthermore, that the testimony date of the witness codenamed İlke within the scope of the investigation was 18/11/2024, and the testimony date of the witness codenamed Çınar was 21/11/2024, a date very close to the mentioned statement, and as a result, the statements made are of a disinformation nature."
