Statement from the Istanbul Governor's Office regarding the earthquake felt in Istanbul
A 4.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Çınarcık, Yalova in the Sea of Marmara was also felt in Istanbul. Following the panic, a statement was issued by the Istanbul Governor's Office.
The following statement was made in the official announcement from the Governor's Office:
As of now, there have been no reports of damage in our province following the 4.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Çınarcık, Yalova in the Sea of Marmara at 23:53 on 17.12.2023.
Field work by AFAD and our relevant units is ongoing.
May God protect our country and our nation from all disasters.
