Statement from MHP's Büyükataman on the 'right to hope' agenda: Why not
MHP's İsmet Büyükataman commented on the 'right to hope' for Abdullah Öcalan after being asked about the statement made by MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız.
Regarding Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız's statement on the "right to hope" for Abdullah Öcalan, İsmet Büyükataman stated that a common will has not yet formed in the commission, adding, "Steps should be taken with the consensus of the commission; we are not in an approach that would open the door to new debates."
He said, "Whatever the consensus that will be formed regarding the steps that need to be taken legally in this matter requires, the Nationalist Movement Party is ready to contribute to that. If there is a need, why not?"
When asked about the statement made by MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız regarding the "right to hope" for Abdullah Öcalan, Büyükataman said the following:
"There is no clear will yet that has turned into a joint decision in this commission regarding the 'right to hope.' Let the commission do its work. From the very beginning, the Nationalist Movement Party has been in an understanding that it is ready to contribute to whatever the consensus that will be formed regarding the steps that need to be taken legally in this matter requires, through the joint will of that commission. Therefore, let us wait for the coming week on this issue. If there is a need, why not?"
Feti Bey explained it that way, but ultimately there is a commission there. Certain steps must be taken with the consensus and joint decision of the commission. If it happens that way, it will have meaning and find a response. We are not in an understanding or approach that would open the door to new debates. In this respect, we will all see together in the coming days the solutions that will be created within a reasonable framework and on reasonable grounds, where the entire participating delegation will agree."
