Statement from Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler regarding the lieutenants! What is the latest status in the disciplinary process?

Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler met with representatives of media organizations in Ankara.

Speaking at the Annual Evaluation Meeting, Güler made important statements regarding the new era in Syria.

"In the new era, the PKK/YPG terrorist organization in Syria will be liquidated sooner or later," said Güler, continuing as follows:

"Both the new administration in Syria and we want this. Organization members who came from outside Syria will leave Syria. Those who are Syrian will lay down their arms. We have no problem with our Kurdish brothers and sisters living in Iraq or Syria. Our problem is only and exclusively with the terrorists. Our Kurdish brothers and sisters living in Syria have also been subjected to the oppression and cruelty of the PKK/YPG terrorist organization. PKK/YPG terrorists forcibly abduct the children of our Kurdish brothers and sisters living there and recruit them at a young age. Families, being uncomfortable with this situation, try to send their children to other countries to save them from the hands of the organization. This is why our problem is with the PKK/YPG terrorist organization, which also oppresses our Kurdish brothers and sisters."

THE STATUS OF THE SULEYMAN SHAH TOMB

Regarding the status of the Suleyman Shah Tomb, Minister Güler stated, "We had previously stated that we temporarily moved it from its location in the village of Karakozak to the village of Ashme in Syria, where it is currently located. The issue of whether or not to move the tomb back to its former location in the village of Karakozak will be evaluated later, depending on the situation on the ground."

HIGH DISCIPLINARY BOARD PROCESS REGARDING THE LIEUTENANTS

Speaking about the disciplinary investigation launched against the lieutenants who crossed swords and chanted the slogan "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal," Minister Güler noted the following:

"The preservation and maintenance of established discipline in the Turkish Armed Forces is indispensable. We have stated many times that we have looked at the incident from the perspective of discipline from the very beginning. The issue is not about reading an oath that has been abolished or saying 'We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal,' but about committing a deliberate, organized, and planned act of indiscipline despite the warnings of superiors. The examination and investigation conducted regarding the incident have nothing to do with the text read or its content. In the disciplinary investigation, no lieutenant was asked about the content of the text read or why they said 'We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal.' What is important here is that, regardless of the content, the disciplinary process will always be operated in the same way and there will never be any compromise on discipline. The High Disciplinary Board process is ongoing. The board has not yet made its decision. It is not appropriate to express a definitive opinion at this stage. Let us all wait for the result together."
