Statement from Minister Uraloğlu regarding the crashed Libyan plane: Following CHP's sabotage claim
When asked about claims that "an aircraft with an Israeli flag was in the same hangar and there was a possibility of sabotage" regarding the plane carrying the Libyan Chief of General Staff and his military delegation that crashed in Ankara on December 23, 2025, Uraloğlu stated that these claims were not based on information.
Stating that the sabotage claims regarding the Libyan plane that crashed in Ankara do not reflect the truth, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said, "In general terms, we do not see any sabotage; we have no such finding. The final decision will be clarified through the judicial process, as a result of the report by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and our accident investigation teams."
Uraloğlu emphasized that the process carried out by the accident investigation teams and the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crash is continuing meticulously, and spoke as follows:
"This process has reached certain stages and is not yet finished. We have previously shared with the public the communications with the tower, the analysis of the devices we call black boxes, and the conversations between the pilots. In general terms, we do not see any sabotage; we have no such finding. The final decision will be clarified through the judicial process, as a result of the report by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and our accident investigation teams."
"AIR TRAFFIC IS MONITORED SECOND BY SECOND"
Uraloğlu emphasized that security measures at airports are at the highest level, and reported that all air traffic is monitored second by second with tracking systems and cameras.
Pointing out that there was no contact with the Libyan plane other than its own personnel, crew, and ground service providers, Uraloğlu made the following assessments:
"There is as much distance as there should be between the alleged aircraft according to normal aviation procedures. So far, there is no document presented that would raise suspicion. Please let us not tire the public with speculative claims, let us not confuse them. We are on top of this incident and will continue to follow it."
