Statement from the Ministry of Justice General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses regarding the release of Dilruba K.: Allegations are not true

The Ministry of Justice General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses has responded to allegations in the press and on social media regarding the release process of Dilruba Kayserilioğlu, who was being held at the İzmir Women's Closed Penal Institution.

The Ministry stated that the allegations that Kayserilioğlu's family was not notified and that she was released from prison in the middle of the night do not reflect the truth.

The statement indicated that the release decision issued by the İzmir 4th High Criminal Court on August 29, 2024, was received by the penal institution portal at 17:13 on the same day, and release procedures were initiated immediately. It was reported that Kayserilioğlu was released around 20:00.

The Ministry also emphasized that during the release process, Kayserilioğlu did not make a request to institution staff to notify her family, lawyer, or acquaintances, and that her personal belongings and money were delivered to her in full. The statement said, "Official procedures were applied in full during the detainee's release, and there is no negligence or deficiency involved."

The Ministry of Justice stated that although it is not a legal obligation, necessary assistance is provided to detainees who have financial difficulties or transportation challenges, noting that Kayserilioğlu was accompanied by the gendarmerie by vehicle to the main gate of the campus.

Pointing out that there is constant public transportation available from in front of the campus to the Aliağa district center, it was stated that Kayserilioğlu did not experience any transportation problems.
